Update on the recent ATO system outages

The ATO is continuing to work to resolve the issues, with core services now stable and more systems being brought online; however members may still experience some delays whilst backlogged transactions are cleared.

Regular updates from the ATO are available on the ATO media page.

Time to Check Your Super Contributions

16 May 2016

As the end of the financial year is fast approaching, it's important to check your super contributions to make sure that you aren't going to exceed the caps. If you contribute more than these caps you may have to pay extra tax.

You can adjust your Water Corporation Superannuation Plan contributions each pay by completing a Change in Details form. UK Pensions no longer available

22 June 2015

Due to a change in United Kingdom's law, Water Corporation Superannuation Plan can no longer accept UK Pension transfers. HM Revenue and Customs recently advised that there was a change in the conditions required to be a Qualified Recognised Overseas Pension Scheme (QROPS). This change does not match Australian superannuation law and therefore WCSP could no longer meet the requirements to accept UK Pension transfers. This is consistent with most other superannuation funds across Australia.

Any member who transferred their UK Pension to WCSP before 6 April 2015 is unaffected. All other affected members have been contacted.

Any member considering transferring their UK Pension to Australia should consider these changes and how they may affect their circumstances before transferring any monies.

To understand more about the different caps and amounts you can pay each financial year, read the Contributions page.

Super Sorter Power Hour

8 March 2015

For many women, juggling things such as work, kids and other home chores means sorting out their super is the last thing they have time for. However, the tough reality is that around 90 per cent of women will retire with inadequate savings to fund their retirement.

This year in the lead up to International Women’s Day on 8 March 2015, the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) is urging all women to take 60 minutes out of their day to sort their superannuation in the

'Super Sorter Power Hour'

Dedicating one hour to take action when it comes to your super could add thousands of dollars to your retirement savings.

Super Sorter Power Hour Tips

  1. Check your super savings

Get to know your super better by checking your balance regularly, as well as the insurance and investment options you have to make sure they are the best fit for your circumstances.

  2. Simplify your super by rolling all your super accounts into one

Consolidating your accounts and/or tracking down your lost or unclaimed super could save you thousands of dollars in unnecessary super fund administration fees, which over time can make a massive difference to your retirement savings.

  3. Plan to save more

Even small additional contributions to your super over time can help boost your retirement savings by thousands of dollars. These extra contributions can help you catch up on the savings time you missed, for example when you take time out to have a baby.
